Our History

We started as simple shipbuilders. Good ones, but traditional. Then someone asked: "What if we didn't rely on wind?" Steam power changed everything.

During the Great War, our ironclad fleet broke Rhaenor's naval blockades. Our weapons turned the tide. While dragon riders clashed in dramatic aerial combat, our ships did the unglamorous work of actually winning.

Now we're expanding. Building factories. Clearing forests for resources. Harvesting ley line energy for steam engines. House Skyrider and House Seaquill don't appreciate our methods. They'll understand when our innovations save the Isles from the next great threat.

Progress requires sacrifice. Usually nature's sacrifice. But that's the price of evolution.

The Industrial Houses of Valoria

Sunpeak runs on innovation and every house in Valoria serves a function in that machine. The minor houses are not decorative. They are components, and Sunpeak is deliberate about which components it keeps.

House Gearwright

The Engineers

Core innovation family and the oldest name in Valorian invention. Half of Sunpeak's patents trace back to a Gearwright original design, and the other half were built on Gearwright foundations. They are meticulous, methodical, and deeply invested in credit attribution, which creates occasional friction with the families who implemented their designs and prefer to emphasize the implementation. Their workshops are the most secure buildings in Valoria. What they are building next is always a closely held secret.

House Ironveil

The Naval Commanders

They did not build the ironclad fleet. They take it to war. House Ironveil has commanded Sunpeak's naval forces for three generations and approaches fleet command with the same systematic thinking that Gearwright applies to engineering. They study every naval engagement in Isles history, run every scenario, and fight battles they have already won twice in their heads before the first shot fires. Other houses find their confidence unsettling. Their record justifies it.

House Coalstone

The Miners

Everything Sunpeak builds starts in the ground and House Coalstone gets it out. Coal, iron ore, the rarer materials that Gearwright's advanced designs require and that Coalstone finds anyway, somehow, reliably. They are the least glamorous house in Valoria and the one that everything else depends on. They know this. They have structured their contracts accordingly and Sunpeak pays without complaint because the alternative is everything stopping.

House Sparkfield

The Weapons Artificers

Sunpeak builds machines. House Sparkfield builds machines specifically designed to end arguments permanently. Their work makes other houses nervous, which Sparkfield considers an acceptable side effect of excellence. Every ironclad weapons system, every fortification defense apparatus, every device Sunpeak has ever deployed in a military context has a Sparkfield signature somewhere in the design. They attend peace negotiations only when invited, which is rarely, which suits them.

House Coppergate

The Merchants

The wealthiest family in Valoria that is not Sunpeak itself, by a margin that grows every year. House Coppergate distributes Sunpeak technology across the Isles, manages the trade relationships, negotiates the export contracts, and ensures that Valorian innovation reaches every market that can afford it. They are charming, well-traveled, and know the price of everything Sunpeak makes down to the last coin. Other houses deal with Coppergate when they want Sunpeak technology. Coppergate makes sure they always want it.

This is progress versus tradition. This is "the old ways are dying. Adapt or perish." You're building tomorrow. Sure, you're destroying some of yesterday. But isn't that how evolution works?
